The FSSP Latin Mass communities in Parramatta and Sydney ran a summer reading challenge over December & January. The goal of the challenge was to encourage participants to read 8 books in 8 weeks. While the challenge was primarily intended for teenagers and young adults who were on their summer holidays, many older parishioners took up the challenge as well.
The purpose was to encourage young people to develop the virtue of reading instead of turning to technology over their summer break for entertainment. It was a great success with 48 people taking part and 22 completing the challenge. In total 534 books were read. The participants were expected to read a range of books, including literature, history, faith-related books, or any other good quality books. Well done to those who took part!
