Francois-2-2048x985.jpg

Having learned of the passing from this world of Pope Francis today, April 21, 2025, the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter is ardently praying for the repose of his soul. As the Servant of the Servants of God, he often humbly asked to be remembered in the prayers of those who met him.   We are indebted to him for being a Father toward our Fraternity in particular by his decree of February 11, 2022, clearly reaffirming the practice and charism that the Fraternity has had from its foundation.

Requiem Masses with the absolution will be celebrated in the apostolates entrusted to the Fraternity in order to “pray to God that through the Sacrifice offered for the soul of his servant, he may be admitted into the celestial kingdom in the company of all the saints.” (Requiem Mass for a Sovereign Pontiff)

The General Council of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter and other members representing the Fraternity throughout the world gathered in Lourdes to renew the solemn consecration of the community to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

On the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, February 11, following a day of pilgrimage and prayer at the holy sites, a solemn Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated that evening by Father John Berg in the upper basilica.

In his sermon, Father Vincent Ribeton evoked “the memory of the graces received on February 11, 2022, which are forever engraved in our souls.” The priests and local faithful then processed to the grotto, to renew the act of Consecration.

Please see here for more details.

In order to render thanks once again and implore Our Lady's continual help, all the members of the Fraternity will solemnly renew our consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. To represent them all, the members of the Plenary Council will recite the act of consecration at the Grotto of Lourdes on her feast day, February 11.

We ask all the faithful who are close to us to join in this novena of preparation February 2-10, 2025 and to renew the consecration on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, February 11, 2025.

In October 2024, FSSP Auckland undertook the inaugural Footsteps of Pompallier Pilgrimage in the Hokianga.

The Pilgrimage was a four day 100km walk along the Hokianga Harbour and hills to retrace the footsteps of New Zealand's first Bishop, Jean-Baptiste Pompallier, offer Mass on the site of the first Mass in New Zealand, and visit his resting place.

The Pilgrimage was a success, thanks be to God. We pray that there were many spiritual benefits and that we can repeat it in the future.

Please see here for photos and more information of how it went.

On August 18th, 2024, the FSSP happily began its presence in the diocese of Maitland-Newcastle with a beautiful Mass in St John the Baptist Chapel, Maitland.

Invited into the diocese by Bishop Michael Kennedy, we are grateful to him and excited to start our work in the diocese. The Mass location, St John's Chapel, is a venerable and historic church (1846), being the pro-cathedral of the Maitland diocese and the burial place of some of its diocesan bishops.

We pray, and we ask you to join us, that this apostolate in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese bear much fruit in the Lord's vineyard. For more details, please see our diocesan webpage.
